My Pregnancy: Week 24
Doctors appointment today! Marilyn weighed me as usual, compared today to last month, and said, "well, you must be retaining water or something." :0/ I was like, "yeah, I get your point." Apparently, I gained 14 lbs since July 1st! To make things better, when the doctor came in to see me, he mentioned that where the baby weighs about 1.25 lbs right now, next month he will have grown to 2.5 lbs! He said, "the word for this month is 'bigger.' Expect a big growth spurt." I'm SO excited to see Marilyn's face at the end of August. haha Here is what babycenter.com has to say about week 24:
Your baby's growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts him at just over a pound. Since he's almost a foot long (picture an ear of corn), he cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but his body is filling out proportionally and he'll soon start to plump up. His brain is also growing quickly now, and his taste buds are continuing to develop. His lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help his air sacs inflate once he hits the outside world. His skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.
