My Pregnancy: Week 20
IT'S A BOY!! We found out on Thursday and we got LOTS of cute little ultrasound pictures. Those will definitely be posted as soon as my husband decides to scan them into the computer. My little boy definitely has the cutest little profile. :0) I'm about halfway done with the pregnancy and I'm SO anxious to meet the little dude! Mitch and I haven't decided on too many details, but we have a middle name. So, for now, we've got ______ Morgan Cook. My parents had a tradition of honoring our grandparents by naming us after them using our middle names so I decided to pass on the tradition and honor the grandparents of my own children the same way (of course I talked it over with Mitch and he agreed. :0) ) My maiden name is Morgan so this name is to honor my dad. He's really an incredible man and I don't know anyone more excited to be a grandparent than he is. We'll be sure to keep you posted!! Here is what www.babycenter.com has to say about this week of my little boy's life:
Your baby weighs about 10 1/2 ounces now. He's also around 6 1/2 inches long from head to bottom and about 10 inches from head to heel — the length of a banana. (For the first 20 weeks, when a baby's legs are curled up against his torso and hard to measure, measurements are taken from the top of his head to his bottom — the "crown to rump" measurement. After 20 weeks, he's measured from head to toe.)
He's swallowing more these days, which is good practice for his digestive system. He's also producing meconium, a black, sticky by-product of digestion. This gooey substance will accumulate in his bowels, and you'll see it in his first soiled diaper (some babies pass meconium in the womb or during delivery).
