bmx

Mitch got a delivery early this morning. It was his brand new BMX BIKE!!!! If you didn't get a chance to read "the pursuit of justice" before it got deleted, his old bike got stolen. It was devastating to him. His ONE hobby was ruined for him and I hated to see him upset like that. So, I asked my parents for a loan and, hearing the love in my voice, they agreed. I normally don't buy things I can't afford, but I needed to do this for him. I wanted to see the smile on his face when he got on a bike again, and let me tell you, it was so worth it. :0)

Don't laugh TOO hard at this one- the sun was in his eyes.

This picture made it all worth it. Look at that grin!

He'd been riding for about half an hour in this one. He loves the new bike; he says its better than his old one! :0)

don't want a law suit on our hands

Apparently, posting the the story "the pursuit of justice" puts me at risk for a law suit. The post didn't use his name and the picture didn't show his face, but my dad suggested it be taken down. Sorry to those who did not have the opportunity to read it. I would also like to correct some misconceptions. If the story portrayed us in a way that seemed vengeful, please understand that we were trying to protect others from the same unfortunate circumstance that we were in. It was not the first time this person had stolen anything and, more than likely, it would not have been the last if we had not done something about it. Obviously, it wasn't the first time since he already had a warrant our for his arrest. Nonetheless, I apologize if my words portrayed us in a vindictive, unforgiving manner.

something we should all live by...

"Our deepest fear is not that we are
inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are
powerful beyond measure. It is our light,
not our darkness, that frightens us. We
ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant,
gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who
are you not to be?

"You are a child of God. Your playing small
doesn't serve the world. There's nothing
enlightened about shrinking so that other
people won't feel insecure around you. You
are born to make manifest the glory of God
that is within you. It's not just in some of us,
it's in everyone.

"And as we let our own light shine, we
unconsciously give other people permission
to do the same. As we're liberated from our
own fear, our presence automatically
liberates others."

-Marianne Williamson
quoted by Nelson Mandela in his inaugural speech.

the beginning

So here we go. Never done a blog before and I'm not too sure how to go about this, so I've decided to go about this MY way. I guess we'll have to wait and see what exactly that will result in.

The name of this blog is really special to me. I remember being back in photojournalism class junior year of high school with Kacie Lynn and we wanted so badly to name the lit mag "rhapsody," but our advisor felt it was too suggestive . We argued for about 30 minutes before me and Kacie realized there was no winning. We later used the name for our show choir, but that's not really the point.

The point is that "rhapsody" means more than "a state of elated bliss; ecstasy." It is "an ecstatic expression of feeling or enthusiasm", "a literary work written in an impassioned or exalted style", "an unusually intense or irregular poem or piece of prose." I have a feeling that if you read ANYTHING from me, it will more than likely cover "ecstatic", "impassioned", and definitely "irregular." I try, everyday, to live my life with enthusiasm and intensity. Lets face it, if I don't, there's really no reason to be living.

Lets decide, for now, that that is the premise of my blog- to prove that everyday deserves to be lived with intensity and enthusiasm. However you decide to utilize that is up to you. :0)
